    About This Fundraiser

    Greetings!

    The Track and Field team at West High School is currently fundraising in the hopes of having a full season of training and competition in 2023, and we need your help! Fundraising now, more than ever, is extremely vital for the success of our program.

    We currently have 80 student athletes committed to the team, with more joining every day before the approaching deadline. We have athletes training in sprints, hurdles, distance running, high jump, long jump, shot put, discus, and pole vault. We practice 5-6 days a week, and would like to compete in 15 meets this year. We work really hard, but have a great time together training, setting goals, and working towards them as a team. Last year, 12 West athletes qualified and competed in the Tennessee State Meet in Murfreesboro, and we have our sights set on the State Meet again this year.

    The track team is unique in that it is a true cross-section of West’s student body… a wonderfully diverse representation of students from varied backgrounds, with unique interests, and a wide range of ability. We do not have try-outs, and every student athlete who is willing to work hard is welcome, from absolute beginner to accomplished athlete. The wonderful thing about the sport of track is that everyone competes at all levels! The team is made up of both boys and girls, from every grade, JV and varsity combined, and it’s a great way not only to achieve athletic benchmarks, but to be part of a team and cheer on other West students we might not know otherwise.

    West High is a large public school in Knox County, responsible for our own fundraising for sports, and the Track and Field Team is currently in need of funds to be able to have a season in 2023. Hitting our fundraising goal would allow us to enter local meets, travel to one out-of-state meet, and purchase equipment such as jerseys, hurdles, and other field equipment that we do not have in order to host meets and practice on our track.  Any surplus raised would be allocated for team warm-ups and/or running shoes for athletes in need.  Our fundraising goal for 2023 is $24,000 to make these things happen. 

    We are asking for your help because of your relationship with a student-athlete on the Track & Field Team at West High School. Please consider a donation to the team to help make the 2023 season a success. Any amount at all is helpful, and all donations are tax-deductible.
