    About This Fundraiser

    We're reaching out to share how crucial fundraising is for the success of our program. With your generous contributions, we can make a real difference. The funds raised will directly support our efforts in acquiring new uniforms, DJ mixes, covering travel expenses, and other essential costs.

    History

    The Golden Girlz Dance Team was established at Kentucky State University in 1990 by a group of passionate young women who sought to explore and blend multiple dance styles without being confined to a single genre. Their vision was to create a team that seamlessly incorporates various dance disciplines, including but not limited to hip-hop, jazz, ballet, contemporary, modern, and majorette.

    In 2000, The Golden Girlz (GGz) achieved official recognition as a campus organization, funding their activities independently.

    During this time, the GGz founded a youth dance subdivision called The Emeralds, aimed at teaching dance to the Frankfort community and surrounding areas. The Emeralds participate in dance camps, team community events, and designated GG performances.

    In 2022, GGz officially became apart of KSU Athletics and in 2023, KSU's first plus sized dance team was created, The Golden Goddesses. 

    Thanks to successful fundraising efforts by dedicated community leaders, key businesses, and university alumni, the Golden Girlz Dance Team continues to exceed expectations and excel in their performances.
