Mentorship and Leadership Program Prince Georges County Police Athletic League

This mentorship program utilizes the “Badges for Baseball” program, provided by the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation. The “Badges for Baseball”, program provides an outline to teach youth about important life skills, that not only help in sports, school and other activities, but will also set them to be successful in life. Through this program we are also able to instill the importance of giving back to their community, through our annual service project (Socks, Hats & Gloves Drive). Once collected, we take the youth out into the community to provide these items to those less fortunate or in need. This is a yearlong program, giving our mentors (Police Officers), the maximum amount of time to create those positive and healthy relationships. Over the year, we are able to provide many opportunities for educational field trips, as well as few, just for fun trips as well! PAL is also extended invitations to many “College Experience Events” at local colleges, providing youth with an in depth look at what it’s like to attend college and the what colleges offer.  It is never to early to start thinking about your future and we strongly encourage our youth participants to explore different interests and what it takes to achieve those short term and long-term goals. Your donation will go towards all of the supplies, equipment, field trips, snacks and meals, and transportation.
