We are Griz Club Soccer and we need your help funding our inaugural season! With your help, we will be able to afford costs associated with travel, field rentals, and purchasing new equipment that will aid with the success of launching this team. First, let us introduce to you our team and what we plan to do this season.
We have scheduled 6 games for our spring season! Opponents include:
- Montana State University
- Gonzaga University
- Eastern Washington University
- & Whitworth University
We even have teams such as the University of Utah and Washington State University reaching out to set up games for the fall season. Additionally, Griz Club Soccer will be hosting adoubleheader tournament in Missoula on April 29th! This will be our version of the “Brawl ofthe Wild” as we host Montana State for the first time in Missoula.
We are even committed to building a strong relationship with local non-profit Montana Soccer Soles. Montana Soccer Soles hosts donation drives to collect soccer cleats, which are then washed, sorted, and given out to local soccer players in need. This relationship will help usconnect to our local soccer community and even better, Montana Soccer Soles is managed by one of our very own players!
Lastly, this summer, Griz Club Soccer will be partnering with the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Center in hosting a group of Sports Diplomacy exchange participants from Chile. Players will play in friendly matches against the Chileans and take part in many FIFA Women’s World Cup “watch party” events. This opportunity will allow Griz Club Soccer to reach the global community and diplomacy participants will get the opportunity to learn how to start a club team in their communities from Griz players and leaders who know the experience firsthand.
As you can see, we have already rooted ourselves in the club soccer scene and our Missoula community all before playing a single match! We have built our team on the foundation that “soccer is more than just a game” and know there is work to be done outside of it. We are excited to be able to represent the University of Montana on this journey and know that this additional funding will be a boost for our success.
