About This Fundraiser

Thank you for visiting our fundraiser page! All of us here with the VFW Idaho hope you and your families are safe and healthy. This year we are introducing you to our new State Commander for the Department of Idaho Veterans of Foreign Wars, Bob Tettleton. As part of his duties Commander Tettleton oversees efforts to support a charity. This year VFW Idaho is supporting a local Idaho charity that supports our veterans; Ride for Joy and their Ruck Up and Rebuild retreat.

Ride for Joy Therapeutic Riding Program provides equine assisted activities to veterans and active-duty service members in Idaho and eastern Oregon who are seeking to improve their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. As you will be reading this after our retreat for 2022 has been completed, this fundraiser is to provide funding for future Ruck Up and Rebuild Retreats, along with other Veteran focused events this year. We are also committed to implementing this as annual event, providing more opportunities for our service men and women to experience the power of healing with these amazing animals. The use of horses, certified instructors and trained volunteers help riders learn and improve life-skills.  Benefits include increased strength and endurance, decreased anxiety, increased confidence, improved anger management skills, decreased stress levels, and re-integration into the community. Therefore, we are asking for your support in this great cause and to help our fellow veterans.

We realize that during this time many things have changed in our lives, with that we are asking for your support any way you see fit. So, please consider donating and/or sharing via email, text, or social media, so all of us here at VFW Idaho may reach our goal. Thank you so much for your support!!!
