I grew up in a small town in Central Kansas called Lyons. I am the son of a Chemist and School Teacher, so school-based activities were always pushed as a way to gain new skills and leadership opportunities in the school and surrounding community. During high school I competed in football, basketball and baseball. I was also involved in band, choir, student council, National Honors Society, theatre and forensics. Upon graduation I attended Fort Scott Community College as a scholarship athlete playing for the Greyhound football team. During my time at FSCC I earned another football scholarship from Missouri Western State University where I completed my Bachelors in Sport and Recreation Management while also minoring in business. Behind all of these extracurricular activities was a myriad of fundraising programs. Some of the fundraisers worked well, most did not. As professional fundraisers, all VerticalRaise representatives have personal experience in this field. Many of us have been through the door-to-door sales in an effort to raise money for our school programs.
