As part of the McLoughlin Bulldog Band Program, our students are amazing musicians who have common goals such as creating music with each other, as well as performing for others. As with all band programs, there is always a need for new equipment and supplies to help our program run smoothly. With this fundraiser, our students are raising money primarily for new percussion equipment, including new auxilary percussion, new crash cymbals, and new drum stands. Currently, our auxilary percussion is many years old and various instruments are being held together with tape. We have one lone pair of crash cymbals that are wonderful for marching band, but do not create the right sound for our concert band classes.
Along with that, we are working towards purchasing new chairs and chair racks for our band room. Currently, the chairs we have do not stack well (only 2 or 3 can be stacked in one pile), and are extremely uncomfortable for students to sit in for one 50-minute class period. With the money from this fundraiser, we can purchase proper musicians chairs and racks for the chairs so we can stack and transport them easily, and most importantly, students will feel comfortable!
The money left over after we make our large purchases will go towards purchasing necessary supplies for instruments such as new mouthpieces, new neckstraps for saxophones, new valve guides for baritones and tubas, and an assortment of other things needed for occasional repairs that can't be sent to a technician in the moment.
