In 1972, the United States Marine Corps chartered a Junior Reserve Officers' Corps of cadets at Jean Ribault High School. From that school year until now, students have joined MCJROTC to become better citizens and leaders.
Our program is raising funds for all the activities we will participate in this year. In just the first semester, we plan to go on a field trip to an air show, march in two or three local parades, and compete in a drill meet, a 'warrior competition' (obstacle course and fitness events) and a marksmanship postal match. Each of these activities require transportation and/or entry fees.
One of the biggest events the cadets anticipate each year is our Marine Corps Birthday Ball in early November. This year's ball will be a double celebration of the Marine Corps' 247th and our 50th anniversaries.
Another event that requires funds is the uniform pictures. Each cadet has their photo taken in the Marine Corps Dress Blue uniform. Then they'll receive copies of their photos to keep and share with family and friends.
We really appreciate any assistance to the cadets that helps them reach their goals so they can fully participate in all events. Please share our excitement about our 50th year with others, to include sharing on social media. Thank you for your support!
