About This Fundraiser

We are reaching out to our valued customers humbly asking for support during these very trying times. We are a small family business that started back in 2011 with a vision to make our authentic delicious food available to the city of Portland. We are very appreciative of the overwhelming response received since we opened. We started with only one food cart location in SE Portland and later opened a second cart in NE Portland. This year we were on track to open our first brick-and-mortar restaurant. We were very excited about enhancing our food offerings as well as creating new job opportunities for our community. Having been hit by the COVID-19 situation, we immediately had to put our vision of growing on hold and switched our energy to survival mode. As you probably know, the food and service industry has been severely impacted. Since mid-March we had to reduce our hours of operation as well as had to lay employees off. At the beginning of the crisis, we were hopeful for the many “relief” options being talked about in order to keep our business from going under. We applied for an Economic Injury Loan (EIDL) through the SBA, applied for a grant and loan through Prosper Portland as well as a Paycheck Protection Loan through our bank. Here we are almost at the end of April and we have not even heard back from the SBA about our EIDL loan application nor have we received a loan advance. We were informed by Prosper Portland that due to the high amount of applications, their funds for both grants and loans had all been allocated. To top this off, last Thursday April 16th we were informed by our bank that the Federal resources allocated for PPP funds had also run out. Even though we are still partially open for delivery and take-out orders only, our sales have decreased dramatically due to the pandemic and without funding we are at risk of having to permanently close very soon. As a last resort, we have created a fund-raising campaign asking our community for its support, in hopes of surviving this economic downturn due to the outbreak. In Spanish we have a saying that goes “Hoy por mi, manana por ti” which basically means “One hand washes the other…”. Today we are asking for your much-needed support and as a way of saying thanks, we’ll be picking two supporters and awarding a free meal for two. We are super grateful to be a part of such a wonderful community and we thank you in advance for any support that you can give us. Whether through this fund-raising campaign, purchasing gift-cards or placing orders for pick-up or delivery. Your contributions will be used for rent payments as well as utilities and costs of operations. We will all make it through this pandemic, together!
